MSU President Simon spoke to the East Lansing Community in a dialog at Hannah Community Center. Not all news from MSU could be considered positive to all of those in attendance. Some of the news that Simon gave was to give an understanding why specific actions by the university were taken.
A portion of Simon's responses could be considered political spin to validate MSU positions. The audience took much of these explanations with a grain of salt. The president missed selling her points many times.
One of the areas that Simon was asked to address was the Big Ten Channel. She failed to address why an advertised-financed channel should have an additional fee to re-broadcast.
When Simon spoke with sincerity, her comments were appreciated. Even though MSU missed many opportunities during the meeting, a better understanding between East Lansing and Michigan State University through dialog was improved.
