The Moving Wall is the half-size replica of the Washington, D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than 20 years. In 1982, John Devitt, a former helicopter door gunner and Army veteran, visited Washington, D.C. for the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and to participate in the National Salute to Vietnam Veterans. Devitts visit and experience led to the creation of the Moving Wall which has since moved millions of people.
The Wall has carved into it the names of the 58,253 American military personnel who were direct casualties of the war, including those who are still considered Missing In Action (MIA). When the Wall was dedicated on November 11, 1982, there were 57,159 names engraved on the black granite panels.
The lower center photo is of John Devitt taken during the interview. The center top photo is of the wall. It is the black strip that is from the left all the way to the right side of the photo, about 1/3 from the top. Remember, this is half-sized.

Sometimes when things get to be a heavy weight, such as this ceremony, it's good to talk to a good horse. George the horse is a good horse. He didn't mind his picture being taken. He preferred the interview not be put up for everyone. We will respect his wishes.
